in Cancer Sucks

Thanks to Jessica for pointing this out to me, just before I received John’s email. Lisa’s obituary is online in one of the local newspaper sites.

EDIT: From John (Dude) via email:

Karl, I am sending the link to Lisa’s obituary that appeared in today’s paper. I’d also like to send out a special thank you to everyone that has donated and for all of the kind words that I’ve been reading, not only on Clusterfook, but on blogs all across the country. It brings a smile to our faces when we see how many lives that Lisa has touched and the huge impact she has made on other cancer patients as well.

Here is the obituary. There’s also a guestbook you can sign at the above obituary site.

I just stumbled upon this website looking for gifts for people and wanting to boost awareness of ovarian cancer at the same time. My own mother passed away in August of 2008 after a third time occurrence of ovarian cancer but at the age of 85. Forty-two year old women with young children are not supposed to die, so I am very sad for Lisa’s family. My own mom was tough as nails and I don’t doubt for a minute that many people thought she was immortal. I am certainly keeping Lisa’s family in my prayers, knowing that Easter brings life and that my Mom and theirs are finding each other in eternal life now.

Stay strong and talk to your Mom because she’s looking after you.

There were tons of obituaries written for her all over the internet, weren’t there? I just couldn’t. But she touched my heart with her great sense of humor and love of the Rolling Stones. I think we had a lot in common.
Love to John, Cameron and Christine.

No problem Karl.

The guest books are nice because the family can print them out and keep them. I have a feeling Lisa’s is going to be the biggest one that website ever saw.

My deepest sympathies to John, Cameron, Christine, as well as all of her extended family. Lisa was a charismatic, special and fun lady. She will be missed by so many more out in the blogging community, including myself.

God Bless and comfort the three of you, always.

Rest in peace, dear Lisa. You will remain in all of our hearts. And never will I listen to a Rolling Stone song and not think of you and your vibrant personality and the love you shared with so many of us.

With love & prayers,

3T

I came here by way of Colin’s blog to wish you and your family my deepest sorrow on your loss. Cancer will not defeat the human spirit. May God watch over you during this time and remain close in the days ahead…

I wish they would have said “ovarian cancer” instead of natural causes, in the obituary. I don’t think anyone considers cancer a natural cause. Also, it helps increase awareness when identified as such in obituaries – a better way to track causes of death…

I am so sorry about Lisa. Prayers are with the family.
